- CFD Analysis of External Buried Chilled Water Pipeline
Project Summary
Conserve Solutions performed a detailed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) thermal analysis for the external buried chilled water pipeline serving the Lusail Festival & Retail Plaza located on Qatar. The 3D modeling included the entire chilled water pipeline covered with insulation and embedded at specified depths within the soil, incorporating accurate soil thermal properties.
Boundary conditions such as entry temperature, heat gains, and heat losses along the pipeline were defined to simulate real operational conditions. The CFD study identified critical sections of the pipeline where excessive heat loss occurred, and engineering recommendations were provided to address and mitigate these thermal inefficiencies.
This project underlines Conserve’s capability in using CFD for optimizing buried pipeline thermal performance, contributing to sustainable district cooling infrastructure in Lusail’s premier retail and festival destination.
